The magic of Breeders’ Cup is that, with one good score, you can make your day even if you flop everywhere else. Opportunities abound again.

Race 4 | Grade I 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies | 1 1/16 miles
1. Yellow Agate
2. Union Strike
3. Noted and Quoted
4. Dancing Rags
Comment: Any of the top three would not surprise as this year’s edition doesn’t have a Songbird dominating (what a finish in the Distaff Friday). Yellow Agate can win with any improvement. Union Strike has to overcome the layoff. Noted and Quoted has won around two turns. Legitimately could use as many as seven of these in multi-race bets.
Race 5 | Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf | 1 1/4 miles turf
1. Seventh Heaven
2. Queen’s Trust
3. Lady Eli
4. Pretty Perfect
Comment: Lady Eli is the sentimental choice but the resumes of Seventh Heaven and Queen’s Trust give them the edge.
Race 6 | Grade I TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint | 6 furlongs
1. Masochistic
2. A.P. Indian
3. Drefong
4. Limousine Liberal
Comment: Masochistic has both top-level speed and home field advantage. A.P. Indian is in top form.
Race 7 | Grade I TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint | 6 1/2 furlongs turf
1. Karar
2. Obviously
3. Mongolian Saturday
4. Washington DC
Comment: Karar merits a shot at a stout price. Obviously is the obvious choice at a lesser price. Mongolian Saturday would be no surprise if he repeats.
Race 8 | Grade I Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile | 1 1/16 miles
1. Classic Empire
2. Gormley
3. Not This Time
4. Practical Joke
Comment: Classic Empire looks to have tactical versatility and has an edge. Gormley has a nice win over this oval at the distance.
Race 9 | Grade I Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf | 1 1/2 miles turf
1. Flintshire
2. Found
3. Mondialiste
4. Ulysses
Comment: Flintshire didn’t adapt to the yielding course in the last out and should rebound here. If not, Found repeats.
Race 10 | Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint | 7 furlongs
1. Paulassilverlining
2. By the Moon
3. Haveyougoneaway
4. Carina Mia
Comment: A wide-open affair. Paulassilverlining gets a narrow edge off most recent performance and the fact that it’s a recent performance. By the Moon and Haveyougoneaway are better on paper but come in off a layoff
Race 11 | Grade I Breeders’ Cup Mile | 1 mile turf
1. Tepin
2. Alice Springs
3. Limato
4. Tourist
Comment: Tepin can improve off her last and sign me up at 3-1.
Race 12 | Grade I Breeders’ Cup Classic | 1 1/4 miles
1. California Chrome
2. Melatonin
3. Hoppertunity
4. Frosted
Comment: I’m no Chromie, but it’s foolish to knock what he’s done. He towers over the field. If any of them has a chance to upset, Melatonin has won twice over the surface at this distance.
